April 14, 2012 - Tinges Commons presents Text It!, a weekly display of community messages painted by artist Sarah McCann on the Tinges Commons Kiosk facing 33rd Street. Throughout the duration of the show participants are invited to submit their own ideas for messages to be painted on the signboard via text message and hand-written form. If your suggestion is selected you will be invited to help paint! The weekly signs will be documented and presented in a scrap book at community events as they happen in Tinges Commons and be uploaded to a project site online.

Tinges Commons 2012 General Assembly: VOLUNTEER & SHAPE THE FUTURE

Tinges Commons is looking for new leaders and volunteers to help re-envision, improve and maintain the community garden and public art space in Better Waverly. Make your voice heard and get involved at the TINGES COMMONS 2012 GENERAL ASSEMBLY on Sunday, March 11 at 3pm at Tinges Commons.

We want to make sure Tinges Commons is cared for and continues to be a beautiful and fun place for the neighborhood. We need your help! Anything that we do with Tinges Commons will be commiserate with the level of support we are able to gather for continuing improvements, events and stewardship of the space.

We are currently considering three visions and we need new leaders and volunteers to make one a reality:

1) Keep Tinges Commons as a functioning community garden and art space. This is your chance to take over a fully functioning community garden public art space. All the infrastructure is there, but we need new blood and fresh organizers to keep it active.

2) Streamline the garden footprint to make room for more brick paths and outdoor furniture including moveable benches and a picnic table. Renovate the Kiosk and add a permanent mural about local edible plants. This redevelopment will require additional volunteers to help with digging, sodding, woodworking, painting and mowing. In addition, we will need new leaders to organize continued stewardship of the space.

3) Remove the garden all together to allow for the addition of more brick paths but no outdoor furniture. Renovate the Kiosk and add a permanent mural about local edible plants. This streamlined version of redeveloping the space will require additional volunteers to help with digging, sodding, painting and mowing.

Learn more, express your views on the proposals and get involved on Sunday, March 11 at 3pm at Tinges Commons. Tinges Commons is located on the southeast corner of 33rd and Frisby Streets, across the street from the Giant supermarket.
